Massimo Bagnasco speaks at the “Dialogue between Italy and China on Architecture and Design” in Beijing

On November 25th, the Italian Trade Agency, together with the Tsinghua University, held the “Dialogue between Italy and China on Architecture and Design” at the prestigious School of Architecture of the Tsinghua University in Beijing. Mr Massimo Bagnasco, Managing Partner of Progetto CMR Beijing, was invited to share the experience of the Italian firm in China and its approach to sustainable urban development.

The full-day forum was joined by renowned Chinese and Italian representatives of the design field, who exchanged their views on the current situation of architecture, on its latest trends and on the sound mutual cooperation between the two countries.

Mr Bagnasco, after briefly introducing Progetto CMR and its story, focused his attention on the huge urban development China has been witnessing over the last decades and on how it provides unprecedented opportunity for urban planners and architects to give an innovative answer to the issues created by urbanization so far.  The answer of Progetto CMR lies in its design philosophy, which has always taken the Man as its core, striving to find the ideal solution that holistically connects the context, the area and the expectations of the users. He concluded his lecture describing the main features of two recent masterplan projects designed by the Italian firm, the Manjiangwan Planning Design and the Zhenjiang Sino-Italian Agricultural Innovation Demo Park, both awarded for their innovative approach in the field of sustainable urban development.

The speakers and guests of the Forum were then invited to visit the exhibition held in the same venue and inaugurated the same day, where the works of both Chinese and Italian designers were shown. The exhibition will last until December 6th, you are all more than welcome to visit it!
