Zhenjiang Sino-Italian Agricultural Innovation Demonstration Park won Golden Environment Award

Progetto CMR is proud to announce that its “Zhenjiang Sino-Italian Agricultural Innovation Demonstration Park” project in Jiangsu province won the Golden Environment Award at the 15th Chinese Habitat Classic Architectural Planning & Design Program Award Contest.

The award, organized by Architectural Society of China and supported by the Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development, is the most authoritative contest in the real estate industry in China. The contest has been successfully held for 15 years, selecting and promoting the best practices in the fields of architecture and design, providing demonstrations for the sustainable urban-rural development in China.

The award ceremony, joined by renowned experts in the architectural field and more than 300 representatives from design firms and institutes, was held on Nov 7 in Beijing. Patrizio Tonini, Design Director and Senior Associate of Progetto CMR, received the award from Mr. Che Shujian, former Director of the General Office of MoHURD and Special Delegate of the State Council. Lucy Liu, Associate and Senior Project Architect of Progetto CMR, delivered a speech at the award ceremony, sharing with the audience the main ideas behind the project.

This project is located in Zhenjiang New District, the birthplace of modern Chinese national industry. The purpose of the demonstration area is to boost the agricultural productivity and efficiency of the area, through an extensive series of measures and actions that take into consideration the specific needs of the context. The Park will showcase the best practices in this field, combining the strengths and excellences of both Italian and Chinese sides to ultimately enhance the quality of economic and social development and accelerate the modernization of the region.

To achieve this goal, Progetto CMR not only focused on the agricultural production, but also integrated other functions, from science and technology innovation centers to ecotourism attractions and residential/service areas, into the land development strategy. The planning of the project also pays attention to the surrounding context, creating a dialogue between the urban and rural worlds. The key feature of the project is to mix the Italian background with the needs, resources and features of the space.
