Europe –China Eco cities Link project

To support Chinese cities in achieving the target of sustainable urbanization, to foster better information exchange between European and Chinese stakeholders and to provide strategic guidelines in the setting up of pilot and demonstration projects: these are some of the key objectives of the Europe-China Eco Cities Link (EC Link) project, officially launched on March 25th in Beijing, during the Eleventh International Conference on Green and Energy Efficient Buildings & New Technologies organized by MoHURD (Chinese Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development).

Mr Massimo Bagnasco, as Member of the Executive Committee of the European Union Chamber of Commerce in China and Vice Chair of its Construction WG, was invited to deliver a speech to introduce the activities of the Chamber and on how it can effectively support the implementation of the EC Link project.

After the opening remarks by representatives of the MoHURD, Chinese Ministry of Commerce and the EU Delegation, the first sessions focused on the EC Link project, its main features and plan of future activities, as well as on introducing the two main pilot cities already chosen for the implementation of the project (Zhuhai and Luoyang). Then, Mr Bagnasco illustrated the main strengths of the European Chamber in China, its strong network of member companies and consistent number of Working Groups, which cover all business sectors, thus providing rich and diversified expertise relevant to the implementation of the EC Link project.
